1. Requirements for Using the Services of Jicki GmbH (“Audio-Shower”)
These Terms of Service apply to non-commercial users of www.jicki.com, all associated subpages, and the Jicki apps for iOS and Android. The Terms apply equally to both the free and the paid Jicki services.
All content provided by Jicki may be used exclusively for private, non-commercial purposes and only in accordance with applicable laws, including copyright regulations.
Jicki GmbH (hereinafter referred to as “Jicki,” “we,” or “us”) is pleased to provide a service that enables our customers to use audiobooks and learning materials for language learning (“Audio-Shower,” hereinafter referred to as “Jicki Content”) through the Jicki apps for iOS and Android.
Jicki Content includes, in particular:
- Foreign-language learning audiobooks accompanied by relaxing background music.
- Digital books for reading along or reviewing.
By using Jicki’s services, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

3. Scope
These Terms of Service govern the contractual relationship between Jicki and the users of the Jicki app and related online services. By using the app or creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
4. Jicki Account
4.1 A free Jicki account is required to use the service.
4.2 A free account grants access to two sample chapters.
4.3 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login information and for all activities conducted under your account.
5. Subscriptions and Pricing
5.1 Full access to all content requires a paid subscription.
5.2 Subscriptions are available for terms of 3, 6, or 12 months.
5.3 Current prices are displayed within the app and may vary by country and platform.
5.4 Payments can only be made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
6. Contract Formation, Payment & Management via Apple/Google
6.1 Paid subscriptions are contracted directly between the user and the respective app store provider (Apple or Google).
6.2 Billing, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are subject to the terms and conditions of the respective app store.
6.3 Jicki has no influence over payment processes or subscription management within Apple or Google systems.
7. Cancellation of Subscriptions
7.1 Subscriptions can be canceled exclusively through the user’s Apple or Google account settings.
7.2 Cancellation requests submitted directly to Jicki are not valid.
7.3 After cancellation, access remains active until the end of the already paid subscription period.
8. Service Availability
8.1 Jicki strives to provide its services continuously under normal circumstances.
8.2 However, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.
8.3 Server outages, maintenance work, or technical issues may temporarily limit availability.
8.4 Claims resulting from such outages are excluded unless mandatory legal obligations provide otherwise.
9. Technical Requirements & Updates
9.1 Use of the app requires a compatible device, a current operating system version, and a stable internet connection.
9.2 Jicki endeavors to maintain compatibility with older devices and operating systems for as long as possible; however, ongoing compatibility cannot be guaranteed.
9.3 Features and display may vary depending on the device.
9.4 Updates may be necessary to ensure security, stability, or functionality. In some cases, continued use of the service may depend on installing such updates.
10. Copyright & Usage Rights
10.1 All content available through the Jicki app and website is protected by copyright.
10.2 Any reproduction, distribution, modification, or publication without prior permission is prohibited.
10.3 Use of the content is permitted solely for private, non-commercial purposes.
11. Limitation of Liability
11.1 Jicki is liable only for damages caused by intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
11.2 In cases of slight negligence, Jicki is liable only for breaches of essential contractual obligations and only for foreseeable damages.
11.3 Jicki is not liable for indirect or incidental damages, loss of data, or loss of profits.
12. Changes to the Terms
Jicki may amend these Terms from time to time. Users will be notified of changes, and continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Privacy
The collection and processing of personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy, available within the app and on our website.
14. Refund Policy
Because subscriptions are purchased exclusively via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, the refund policies of the respective app stores apply.
Apple: Refund requests via Apple Support
Google: Refund requests according to Google Play policies
Jicki cannot process refunds directly.
15. Severability & Governing Law
15.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
15.2 These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, except where mandatory consumer protection laws of the country in which the user resides require otherwise.
15.3 Where legally permissible, any legal disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be brought before the competent courts at the registered seat of Jicki GmbH in Germany.
